The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC) is located in Portage Valley and is surrounded by the breathtaking Chugach Mountain Range and Turnagain Arm Inlet. We have over 200 acres of animal enclosures including Wood Bison, Moose, Muskox, Caribou, Wolves, Porcupine and more. A 1.5 mile walking or driving loop around AWCC takes you on a scenic journey to view wildlife, glaciers, and mountains. We offer summer opportunities as volunteers, interns, and seasonals in animal care and education. We also have summer openings in admissions and gift store.
