Comcast NBCUniversal

Software Engineering Intern

June - August 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I thought that the program as a whole was well organized. Interns were given important responsibilities and the hours were fair.

What I wish was different

I wish that I did not ask to be placed in FreeWheel. My team members were helpful and nice, but my manager was never around. I was never able to get any feedback from any of them no matter how many times I asked.

Advice

Some interns had great experiences. A lot of it depends on your manager, regardless of what team members you work with.

finance intern

May - August 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I really liked that I was able to apply what I learned in my finance courses to the work at NBC. I was part of the TV and New Media Distribution group. I had more of an operational finance role so I worked solely with revenue. It allowed me to gain a unique big picture view of the financials for the company. The company had so many different components which made it really interesting to learn about. My work was involved with the revenue form all of NBC's television shows and movies. It was a very interesting field to be doing corporate finance. The culture was also more young and innovative because of the industry.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to see a more accounting based finance aspect of the company as well to get a more well-rounded understanding of the company.

Advice

Be really open and prepared to learn. The company likes people who want to learn and are open to jump into anything they need.
