Intern - Internal Audit/ Finance

June - September 2017 • Bellevue, WA

What I liked

I loved that I was treated just like any other full-time employee. I felt that my work was appreciated and added value to the business. Also, I was always encouraged to try new things to help myself learn the processes and operations but knew I could ask for help from any of my colleagues or managers if I needed.

What I wish was different

I wish that prior to my internship I would have been ready to start networking. I knew going in that it was going to be a fantastic learning experience, but I feel that I did not fully utilize all the connections I could have because I didn’t start to network until a few weeks into the internship.

Advice

Practice your elevator pitch, and have a clear vision of what you want to accomplish during your internship. Also, never be afraid to ask for something weather it be a meeting with a chief level executive or coffee with your hiring manager. People are usually very willing to share their wisdom and help you along your career path.
