2-Year Teaching Fellowship

Applicants to Crane’s Center for Experiential Education are a diverse group of open-minded, confident, passionate individuals who find themselves at a pivotal moment in their professional lives. They care deeply about children, they are excited about schools and learning, they are both reflective and imaginative, and they are serious about becoming teachers.

All applicants need to be college graduates who have some beginning experience working with children. Previous coursework in the field of education is not necessary. This is a residential program and our teaching fellows will live in a beautiful furnished home adjacent to the Crane campus. This is a two-year, full-time, salaried program.

The following information includes examples of experiences and duties. Please refer to our website for more detailed information: Fellows will work directly with an experienced classroom teacher. Fellows will offer assistance in the classroom, have an opportunity to plan and teach lessons, and work in small-groups with students. Fellows are also given the opportunity to tutor and teach after-school classes, coach sports, and go on trip weeks with our middle school students. Co-Directors Elizabeth Keadle and Karen Ohrn provide additional support, organize professional development opportunities, and lead academic discussions.

Finalists will be invited to visit Crane’s campus. In the course of the visit, they will meet with several faculty members and administrators. They will also be asked to facilitate a small group activity for which a plan will be provided. These visits are generally held in March.
