Summer 2026 - Center for Global Enterprise Internship Program

Overview

The Middlebury Center for Careers and Internships (CCI) is pleased to announce a partnership with the Center for Global Enterprise (CGE), a New York–based nonprofit, nonpartisan research institution focused on global economic and technology trends and their impact on society.

Through this collaboration, Middlebury students will engage directly with CGE’s applied research, communications, and global development work—advancing their understanding of global enterprise leadership while contributing to initiatives that expand opportunity and innovation worldwide.

This program is supported through the generosity of the Palmisano Family Internship and Research Endowed Fund.

About CGE

CGE advances global business learning for current and future leaders through research, programs, and institutes that focus on applied learning and cross-sector collaboration. Middlebury interns will contribute to one of four CGE initiatives:

Intern Responsibilities

Interns will gain hands-on experience at the intersection of business, technology, and global development while contributing to projects that advance economic opportunity and enterprise readiness worldwide.

  • Contribute to research, communications, and project execution within assigned initiative.
  • Participate in weekly virtual team meetings with CGE leaders and staff.
  • Produce professional deliverables such as reports, presentations, or digital content.
  • Submit a final summary report reflecting on accomplishments, challenges, and learning outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Rising seniors or graduate students preferred.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in global business, communications, entrepreneurship, supply chain, cybersecurity, or women’s leadership.
  • Experience with digital media, data management, or program coordination is helpful but not required.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a virtual team environment.

Program Details

  • Format: Primarily remote; travel support possible for select roles.
  • Schedule: 25-30 hours/week for 9 weeks (June 1 - July 31, 2026)
  • Supervision: Interns received mentorship from CGE directors and ongoing support from Middlebury’s Center for Careers and Internships.
  • Compensation: Positions are unpaid; selected interns will receive a $5,000 grant provided by Middlebury’s College Center for Careers and Internships.     

Application Process

Students should apply via Handshake by January 7, 2026, submitting:

  • Cover letter (indicating top two preferred institute preferences and an explanation your selections)
  • Resume (Middlebury College undergrads are required to submit a CCI-approved resume)
  • Writing sample (2-5 pages: article, policy memo, press release, or essay)
  • Unofficial transcript

Learning Outcomes

Through this experience, interns will:

  • Gain exposure to global enterprise operations.
  • Strengthen cross-cultural communication and leadership skills.
  • Develop applied research, writing, and project management experience.
  • Build a professional network in business, technology, and social impact sectors.

The CCI Select Internship Program offers Middlebury students the opportunity to take part in impactful, hands-on internships across the U.S. and around the world. Each position is chosen for its strong mentorship, meaningful learning outcomes, and potential to help students explore career interests in a real-world setting.

  • Funding: Interns receive a $5,000 CCI award to support their summer experience.
  • Requirements: For Middlebury College students - résumé must be CCI-approved to apply. Selected interns must participate in all cohort meetings and complete pre-internship forms, a post-internship evaluation, and a donor thank-you letter. 
  • Eligibility: Open to returning Middlebury College and MIIS students. Those graduating in May 2026, students not enrolled in Spring or Fall 2026, and those planning to transfer are not eligible.
