Winter Term Rural Education Action Program Internship

What is REAP?
The Rural Education Action Program (REAP) is an impact evaluation group based at Stanford University. We work exclusively in China, and focus on designing, implementing,
and evaluating projects that aim to improve health and educational outcomes among poor, rural children. For more information, please visit our website: reap.fsi.stanford.edu.

REAP will be hiring up to two interns from Middlebury.

You will spend three weeks at REAP’s Stanford office in Palo Alto, CA working together with REAP researchers to develop a series of general audience outreach materials related to REAP’s work on rural health, including efforts to measure the quality of rural health care, and interventions designed to improve access to maternal and child health services in rural China. You will be working hand in hand with REAP’s senior program staff to synthesize quantitative academic materials into a clear, concise, graphics-heavy report that presents REAP’s health work to a non-specialist audience. You may also be developing materials related to a social enterprise – spun out from REAP's research – that seeks to provide affordable, high quality eye care in rural areas (http://www.smartfocusvision.com/).

Compensation:  To support the expenses of two interns, the Economics Department, the Chinese Department, and Center for Careers and Internships are providing a $2,000 award to each intern.  In addition, REAP will provide $500 each towards housing costs.

Please visit go/internships for information on receiving credit (if desired) for Winter Term internships.
