Clinical Research Coordinator
We at the Faustman Lab are running an innovative Phase II clinical trial focused on the treatment of type 1 diabetes. Located at Massachusetts General Hospital, we are testing the potential of BCG, our study drug, to reverse type I diabetes in adults and children. Please visit www.faustmanlab.org to familiarize yourself with our work. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with an interest in clinical research. Through this position, you will have first-hand experience conducting a clinical trial under FDA supervision, as well as gain an understanding of the importance and challenges of translational research. In addition, you will have extensive patient interaction and gain blood drawing skills.
Successful applicants might have previous experience consenting and enrolling patients in clinical research studies, analyzing research data and designing new studies. All applicants must be able to commit to 2 years of work (or more if desired). If offered the position, exceptional candidates can expect to work on a project that will lead to a publication in a scientific journal. Impeccable organization skills and the ability to effectively communicate with other lab members and patients are a must. We are a small, diverse lab looking for an ambitious person who wants to learn a great deal about diabetes and autoimmunity and successfully complete several research projects.
Additional desired attributes:
· Basic experience with research study design and data analysis required. Previous experience writing study protocols and working with institutional review boards (IRBs) preferred
· Must be able to spearhead multiple projects while working in a fast paced environment with a multidisciplinary team
· Strong interpersonal skills are a must
· Must either be a certified phlebotomist or be willing to take a phlebotomy course after hire
· High competency with Microsoft Office Suite
