Overview

We are seeking a Social Media & Marketing Intern to join our Creative Team (start date flexible, 20+ hrs/week). As a member of the Creative Team, you will support our marketing efforts by running Givebutter’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.), and will help us amplify the Givebutter brand through a variety of marketing and social media projects and campaigns. You’ll merge creative marketing techniques with new media and strategic insights to craft effective marketing campaigns with the goal of reaching the masses.This is an ideal opportunity for an undergraduate with a passion or an interest in marketing and/or social media with an excellent knowledge of Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and an understanding of social media analytics. The role will include a heavy emphasis on developing digital content, including social media graphics, Facebook posts, Instagram posts, and Snapchat stories. This position will report directly to the Chief Creative Officer in our Washington D.C. headquarters (Please note: We are accepting remote applications).

Responsibilities

Interested applicants should have a combination of personal and business experience with social media and/or marketing. Candidates must also be strategic thinkers who understand business strategy--including how social media fits into a business’ marketing strategy (not just by “selling” to our clients, but also by building a large following that is loyal to our brand). Finally, interns must be reliable, creative thinkers who can independently conduct research; develop relevant content for our audience; navigate across various social media platforms; seek out new partnerships and followers; communicate with potential and current clients; and articulate recommendations for improvements on all fronts to our leadership team.

Essential responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Researching industry resources for news and information relevant to our target audience.

  • Monitoring social media presence on multiple networks – and posting daily, or as required.

  • Creating web, print and graphic content.

  • Assisting with organizational marketing and planning tasks.

  • Identifying gaps and areas of improvement for marketing.

  • Tracking analytics – including search engine optimization to measure the growth and impact of social media on our growth, and developing actionable-steps to increase impact.

Skills and attributes interns are expected to have:

  • Minimum of one year of experience using various social media platforms, including, but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Google.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Ability to identify a target market and “speak” to consumer through social media.

  • Keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize and complete assignments by established deadlines.

  • Initiative to come up with fresh ideas on how to grow our online presence.

  • Willingness to learn.

  • Excellent personality.

  • Experience in public relations, marketing, graphic design, and/or media arts.
