Gates Center Middlebury Stem Cell Research Intern

GATES CENTER MIDDLEBURY SCHOLARSHIP

STEM CELL RESEARCH INTERN

SUMMER 2018

In 2015, the Charles C. Gates Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Biology in Denver, Colorado initiated a new program called the Gates Center Summer Internship Program. The goal of the program is to encourage outstanding undergraduates to consider careers in stem cell research by providing state of the art training opportunities at the Gates Center. Using adult stem cells, students work with research teams to develop therapies across a wide range of areas including Dermatology, Orthopedics, Oncology and Neurology. Scholars attend biweekly lectures given by the Gates Center faculty and present their work at the end of their internship at a poster presentation session. In both Summer 2016 and 2017 we selected two outstanding students for the program, and this summer we will again select two Middlebury Gates Summer Scholars to spend 10 weeks interning in laboratories on the University of Colorado Medical Campus. The internship is full time (June 1 to August 10, 2018) and you will receive a stipend of $3600.00.

The application process is competitive and open to current Sophomores and Juniors. In order to apply, your GPA must be at least 3.60, but students selected for GSIP typically have GPA’s around 3.80.

Application Process:

  • Resume
  • An essay explaining your current interests, and why you are applying to the program. Please include your expectations for the summer and share your future career goals. The essay should be 1.5 line spaced and a maximum of one page.
  • Should you be selected as one of Middlebury College’s Summer Scholars, you will need to obtain two faculty letters of recommendation (one from a science faculty member).
  • If you are selected by the Middlebury Gates Committee, you will be notified of your acceptance, and you will need to complete a second application that can be found here: http://www.ucdenver.edu/academics/colleges/medicalschool/centers/StemCell/EducationSeminars/gsip/Pages/default.aspx (Scroll down to GSIP Application)

The deadline for submission is 1/7/2018 at 11:59 PM

If selected, your application is due to GSIP on 2/12/2018.
