Animal Laboratory Technician I

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager the applicant is responsible for performing the routine and specialized duties related to the husbandry of the experimental animals as an Animal Laboratory Technician I. The Technician observes animals for abnormalities, performs animal care, room and general facility maintenance, room environmental monitoring and documentation, cage card bar-coding, etc. as required. The Technician will also assist the Clinical Staff (animal handling and restraint) under the direct supervision of the Clinical Staff. The applicant must be a motivated self-starter with good teamwork practices and good communication (in English) skills.

Physical Demands: 
Able to read and comprehend written and verbal instructions in English. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Able to work standing up for long periods. Able to perform repetitive motions.

Educational Requirements: 
High school graduate

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:
Certification by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician or higher) preferred.

Experience: 
Previous relevant research animal experience required: minimum of 1 year in a research support environment. A combination of education and/or related work experience will be considered.
