Undergraduate pursuing an engineering degree in Civil, Environmental or related science field with a focus on water resources. Please apply by February 18, 2019.
Describe the value of the proposed Internship to the Intern: WWE has many interesting and challenging projects to advance an intern's career. The field of water resources engineering covers many disciplines such as hydrology, hydraulics, water quality, drainage and flood control, and water rights. The intern will learn about the consulting engineering business and, after this summer experience, will be better informed to answer the question "Is consulting engineering the right career for me?" Outside field work in Colorado during the summer months is always interesting and may be part of the intern's work.
Job Description: The internship will be full time (Monday through Friday) with responsibilities that vary day to day given the transient nature of the projects at hand. The intern will be mentored by an experienced, full-time professional engineer. The intern's job responsibilities may include the following:
· Stormwater quality best management practices planning (including Low Impact Development)
· Hydrology and floodplain planning
· Fieldwork for water quality sampling and stream flow measurement
· Water/wastewater planning and design (including process, hydraulics, and equipment specifications)
· Preparing technical reports
· GIS engineering applications.
Individuals with good time-management skills will excel in this environment in that they will likely be involved with multiple projects with varying work product deadlines.
Management Goals: Interns are evaluated weekly and will be expected to work diligently and actively as a team contributor to fulfilling project deliverables. The assigned mentor will interact with full-time project supervisors overseeing the intern’s activities.
