COPE Health Scholars - Summer Intensive Health Scholar

Overview


The Intensive Health Scholar program is perfect for individuals looking to gain firsthand experience in a clinical setting, along with health care management interactions and experiences, in an intensive format over eight (8) weeks during the summer. You will participate in skill-based workshops, such as suturing, and attend a seminar taught by UCLA faculty. Upon graduation, you will receive a completion certificate from UCLA’s Executive Programs in Health Policy and Management.

Available at a variety of sites to choose from throughout Southern California, Washington, and Hawaii.



Eligibility


Scholars must be accepted to, enrolled in or graduated from an accredited college or university, and be at least 18 years old.

Commitment


A total of 220 hours is required to receive a Intensive Health Scholar certificate of completion. The required 208 field experience hours includes 40 hours of training and CPR certification. A minimum of six, 4-hour shifts will be completed per week in pre-assigned departments for the duration of eight weeks. Field experience hours may be scheduled in 4-hour blocks from 7am-11pm Monday to Sunday (7 days per week). In addition to field experience hours at your hospital site, you will be required to attend skills workshops and additional events as part of the program.
