Web Production Internship: MassGeneral Hospital for Children

MassGeneral Hospital for Children is seeking an intern to assist with website production on www.massgeneralforchildren.org.

Qualifications: Some knowledge of HTML and willingness to learn new programs

Commitment: We do not require a minimum number of hours per week and work may be done remotely. However, because our hope is that interns will be able to complete at least one meaningful project, and because it takes a while to get things done in a large healthcare organization, we ask for a minimum six-month commitment. Some interns have been with the hospital for a year or longer, varying their weekly hours to meet project goals as well as to accommodate school and other demands on their time. We’re not so much concerned with the number of hours you log in a cubicle—we are interested in skill development and we want you to be able to say something meaningful on your resume when the internship is completed.

Academic majors: All

Practicum: Working in templates in a content management system, the intern will edit web pages and create new web pages to help ensure the hospital's clinical services, research, and other programs are accurately represented. This unpaid internship will require some meetings on the main campus of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, but the bulk of the work may be completed remotely.

Learning outcomes:

  • Demonstrate and apply basic HTML/CSS skills.
  • Apply professional communication and teamwork skills in working with professional clients.
  • Apply existing design guidelines, brand standards, and standardized code to a project.

Must contact Internship and Career Advisors to see if position is eligible for academic credit

How to apply:

Please send resume and cover letter to Dave Ekrem, Manager, Digital Strategy and Web Development.
