Summer Scientist Intern, Recommendation, Search & Voice

Position Summary:

You will join a team of scientists with diverse expertise in machine learning, content analysis, recommendation systems and information retrieval, and apply cutting edge methodologies to build the next innovations that will delight millions of listeners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work on either search ranking, recommendations, or natural language understanding for the voice interface for the largest scale music/talk/podcast streaming service in the US.
- Perform other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Minimum Qualifications:
- You must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be enrolled in a college, university or trade school to qualify. Recent graduates may also be considered.
- PhD candidate in CS/EE/Math/Stats/NLP/ML (ideally 1-2 years away from finishing).
Requirements and General Skills:
- Solid programming skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a small team.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with current research, and publication in one of the fields -- machine learning (deep learning a plus), natural language processing, information retrieval, recommendation systems.
- Ability to prototype and develop custom machine learning algorithms for natural language processing/understanding, search or recommendation systems.
- Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience with Hive or SQL databases.
- Proficiency in Java.
- Experience in Hadoop and Deep Learning.
