Research Assistant

We seek a highly motivated and organized individual to join our efforts to study novel genetic treatment approaches for blood disorders. We are particularly focused on applying genome editing technologies to develop novel treatments for hemoglobinopathies. The selected candidate will work on computational and experimental research projects.

A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably with formal study in bioinformatics/computational biology, molecular and cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, biophysics, gene therapy, hematopoiesis, systems biology, and/or structural/chemical biology. The candidate must be a responsible individual with strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Previous experience in scientific research would be an asset. Experience with hematopoiesis research is not required, but enthusiasm for learning modern molecular genetic and bioinformatic techniques is essential.
 
40 hour/week full-time position with flexible hours and competitive salary/fringe benefits. Anticipated start date is winter 2019/2020. A 2-year minimum commitment is strongly preferred. Previous Bauer lab research assistants have co-authored 15 peer-reviewed original research articles over the past 6 years and attained competitive graduate school positions.
