Engine Programmer Internship (Summer 2020)
The Epic Games Special Projects Team is looking for a smart, creative Programmer Intern to join them for summer 2020. Our Interns are given challenging projects over the work term, and are provided with a meaningful experience with high expectations for performance. This team works closely with the Unreal Engine team to develop our next generation of cutting-engine technologies and utilize them to make public-facing demonstrations. You will work directly with the brightest technical minds in the business as we continue to push the envelope of what’s possible.
Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the Engine team to apply and improve emerging technologies within Unreal Engine
- Developing and supporting public-facing demo projects
- Solving a wide variety of technical challenges under deadlines
Qualifications:
- Degree work in CS or related fields.
- Work samples required (indie, academic, hobby project etc.)
- Strong C++ knowledge
- Demonstrated interest in real-time simulation, graphics, or game development
- Basic understanding of a real-time engine: graphics, physics, tools, audio, networking, memory handling, scripting, I/O, etc.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine 4 strongly preferred
This is a paid internship, running May 26 through August 14 with flexible start date. All candidates must be eligible to work 40 hours per week on site in Cary. Intern recruitment for summer 2020 roles will run through February 2020, or until teams find an ideal match.
