Software Engineering Internship

Special Note: Due to the ongoing public health situation, this role is available as a 100% remote position. Our team has been working remotely for the last several months and our other summer interns may work remotely. We are also open to candidates interested in part-time remote work during their Fall semester.

Why should I apply for the Teamworthy Software Engineering Internship?

We are looking for entrepreneurial computer science students and talented student software engineers to join our investment team to help us as we continue to add new capabilities to our internal research platform and tools. We invest in software and software-enabled services businesses with a strong interest in developer tools, APIs, and platform businesses. During the summer, you will work closely with our partners to prioritize and create new internal products. You will work closely with our partner Evan Kaye, a software developer and medical doctor. You will also visit our NYC portfolio companies and meet their product and engineering teams. Your summer with us is a great opportunity to discern whether you are interested in a career in early stage investing, in starting your own software business, or joining a fast growing product and engineering team at one of our companies.

What will I do?
  • Own and build key components of our internal systems and tools
  • Write high quality, clean code that can be read by humans and computers
  • Help our partners evaluate the technical proficiency of teams we're considering investing in
  • Discover and evaluate new source of data and information to help our investment team
  • Provide product and architectural recommendations to our portfolio companies

What do you want Teamworthy Ventures to add to the world?
We stand at the crossroads where people, ideas, and capital encounter each other. We start with our customers (our entrepreneurs and their teams) and work backwards, committing ourselves as servant-leaders with the spirit of a true partnership. We strive to be worthy partners by connecting promising entrepreneurs to our network of other successful entrepreneurs and partners to help them build innovative companies of purpose, value, and integrity. We assist our entrepreneurs with helpful introductions to new customers, partners, and team members. Helpful and high-integrity investors help companies raise the standard of living in their community, country, and the world.

What qualifications should I have?
You should be a current junior in college or a recent graduate (0-3 years of work experience) with a strong academic record, demonstrated leadership experience, a high aptitude and enthusiasm for qualitative and quantitative information, and a servant-leader disposition towards your classmates, teammates, colleagues, and mentors. You should enjoy working as part of a team as well as taking individual initiative and ownership.

A note on your future
The great American entrepreneur Sam Walton (founder of Walmart) often said that his secret advantage was the humility to learn from anyone -- store employees, executives, competitors, etc. We consider it a privilege to work with and learn from the best entrepreneurs, whether they are found inside or outside our firm!

You will be facing a big decision on how to invest your time and gifts after graduation. You may decide in a few years that you have entrepreneurial aspirations that exceed even the wide scope your role at Teamworthy offers. At that time, our partners would welcome an opportunity to help you build your own venture.

Recent summer interns have attended Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Penn, Princeton, UVA. Brian Cashin, our current full-time Associate, joined us after completing a Summer Associate internship with us and graduating from Yale College. Other summer interns have pursued roles in growth equity, management consulting, and operating roles at growth stage businesses.

What is your interview process?
Our partners will review your application responses (see below) and contact you to schedule a video interview. Following the video interview, you will be given a short project to help us learn more about you and your abilities.
