About Jennifer Porter '01:

Jennifer Porter is a senior special counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, a federal agency responsible for overseeing the nation’s securities markets and certain primary participants, including broker-dealers, investment companies, and investment advisers. Jennifer’s office within the Division of Investment Management leads rulemaking activities and provides advice on policy initiatives affecting investment advisers and private funds.

Jennifer has contributed to the Commission in various roles since she joined the agency. She served as a senior policy advisor for two of the Division’s directors and as a senior advisor for Chair Mary Jo White. She also served as a branch chief and attorney in the Investment Adviser Regulation Office, acting branch chief in the Disclosure Review and Accounting Office, and attorney in the Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs.

Prior to joining the agency, Jennifer worked as a senior associate in the Investment Management Practice Group at WilmerHale. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law and Middlebury College.
