Become a middle grades (4-8) or secondary (7-12) mathematics, science, or Spanish teacher in Philadelphia!
The Temple Teacher Residency (TTR) offers science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) majors, and Spanish major the opportunity to build on and share their science and mathematics knowledge through an accelerated 1-year master’s program (start Summer 2020-graduate Summer 2021). Resident teachers can potentially receive a significant salary and a tuition award. Residents collaboratively teach with an experienced mentor for a full academic year in a Philadelphia middle or high school classroom.
Learn to teach by observing and teaching in middle grades and secondary classrooms
- Start working with students starting from day one of the year
- Gain valuable hands-on teaching experience in classrooms in Philadelphia
- Spend an entire academic year in a classroom
- Observe and teach in different classroom contexts, subjects, and grade levels
- Take graduate coursework that is tightly integrated with your clinical experiences in the classroom
- Receive ongoing professional support during and after the program
Work with an experienced mentor teacher who will model excellent teaching and provide ongoing support and guidance
- Work closely with a coach, professors, and program staff members
- Join a cohort of peers who will support and motivate each other during and beyond the residency year
- Receive job placement support to ensure employment in a Philadelphia public school or a String Theory School
- Receive support from TTR staff during their first two years as a teacher
Make graduate studies affordable
- Potential in earning a significant salary and additional tuition award during the residency year by committing to at least three years of science, mathematics, or Spanish teaching at the middle or secondary level in a Philadelphia public school or a String Theory School
Get a leg up on professional credentials
- We encourage and prepare residents to earn a M.Ed. and PA teaching certification simultaneously, which elevate your salary earning potential by having a master’s degree
- We offer the option to pursue a Special Education or Teaching English Language Learners certificate
