About TBOY:

The Best One Yet podcast (“TBOY” for short) is a 20-minute daily pop-biz show. Hosted by ex-Wall Streeters and current best friends, Nick Martell and Jack Crivici-Kramer, TBOY brings clever insights and colorful charisma to its daily coverage of business news. Targeting ambitious Zillennials, TBOY was downloaded over 50M downloads in 2022, making it one of the most-listened to daily shows in podcasting. Formerly known as Snacks Daily, The Best One Yet was spun-out of Robinhood and debuted as an independent venture in April 2022. Nick and Jack run and own the company together. Their tribe of followers call themselves “The Yetis”: Investors, consumers, entrepreneurs, and young professionals who know today’s pod will be The Best One Yet.

Nick & Jack Studios is the lean, mean, media machine that produces TBOY daily, as well as their complimentary shorter podcast TBOY LITE, an email newsletter, guest interview bonus episodes, live shows, and more. The team includes 4 people operating on both coasts, with Nick based in San Francisco, Jack based in Vermont, and Adam and Rachel based in Los Angeles.

The Position:

TBOY is looking for a summer intern to work alongside Jack at TBOY’s East Coast outpost at Hula Lakeside in Burlington, VT. The summer intern will improve daily workflows, track and analyze the metrics and data most critical in media, and shadow the team’s core editorial meetings in order to gain insights into how we make the show everyday. In addition to daily responsibilities, intern will complete a summer capstone project, assessing the business opportunity of expanding TBOY into a new platform: YouTube.

This position will give you on-the-ground experience in the creator economy, media industry, and work 1-1 with entrepreneurs.

We are looking for someone passionate about the news, business, entrepreneurship, writing, media, and/or data analysis.

Daily responsibilities:

  • Shadow the daily editorial meeting, the “Headline Hammer,” in which Nick & Jack decide with the team what stories will be covered and in what news/storytelling angles.
  • Be available for ad-hoc editorial, graphic design, copy-writing, and research assignments. This includes for the podcast, social media, the newsletter, and video production.
  • Track and analyze editorial coverage by building a daily editorial calendar.
  • Analyze listener metrics and gain insights into what’s working and not working, from a listener perspective.
  • Serve as analyst for Nick and Jack, assisting his research and drafting of each day’s podcast episodes. You’ll be getting deep in the news cycle and understand what’s necessary to produce daily content in a fast-paced news team!

Final project: YouTube

  • Podcasting is morphing from an audio medium into a video medium, with YouTube being the primary platform for distribution. TBOY has been publishing episodes with video since April 2022. But 2024 is the Year of YouTube for TBOY, where we experiment with optimal titles, descriptions, thumbnails, and show formats to win on YouTube.
  • Survey the competition: We need an intern to identify the daily news podcasts that are winning on Youtube, and analyze the keys to their success.
  • Assess how Shorts is used alongside traditional horizontal formatted YouTube to grow show pages.
  • How should titles and descriptions be used so that our show lands atop search results for news?
  • Determine optimal CTA strategy, both on the show and using YouTube’s clickable “next video” tools.
  • Deliver presentation to Nick, Jack, and the rest of the TBOY team on findings.
