Store and Programs Intern

January - May 2018 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

I loved the flexibility of the position. Being a small nonprofit organization, it was easy to get involved in different ways while being able to see your work firsthand make an impact!

What I wish was different

I wish I wrote more blog pieces earlier and had time to manage their social media early on, rather than towards the end of my internship.

Advice

I recommend standing your ground, and making sure people know what you are interested / want to do! You never know, that alone could open up thousands of doors for you.

Business Development Intern

June - August 2017 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

I got the chance to work on projects from different sectors. From e-commerce development to market research, I was able to contribute to all aspects of the organizations. Plus, the people are friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful!

What I wish was different

I wished I had more guidance in some of my projects. My internship was business-heavy, unlike most of the jobs there (most are education-related jobs). Therefore, I had to learn lots of the processes I used on my own.

Advice

To be passionate about the organization's mission and values. Working for a nonprofit is very different from working for a company. A big difference between both is the commitment to create positive change! If you don't believe in the mission, you will not enjoy the internship.
