What I wish was different

I enjoyed working with other undergraduates, but would have liked a larger pool of undergrads & grads to work with.

Advice

Take in everything you can especially, in the first few weeks. Especially since they will want you to be able to run more experiments on your own later into the term. Great experience for those interested in science, wanting to make money, and jumpstart a research career at Dartmouth as a student.

What I liked

Getting to work one-on-one with a professor was very valuable for me in terms of helping me to understand the research, organizational, and specialized skills that go into creating an academic publication.

What I wish was different

I wish that there had been more opportunities for in-person meetings, but, given the online nature of the work, meeting had to be kept online.

Advice

I would say that it is important to set deadlines and stick to them.

Advice

Any kind of research experience is not always all fun and games. For many weeks out of the 10 I was there, I was under a lot of pressure. It was often that I needed to stop and realize where I was and take advantage of being in a new place. Make sure whatever internships or experiences you get to participate in, you take the time to appreciate what is in front of you, because you never know if you'll get to go back.
