The projects I was able to work on were interesting and educational and I learned so much from all the people who worked in the office. There was a real emphasis on helping me achieve my goals while teaching important job related skills through various intern workshops!
What I wish was different
That I didn’t have to commute an hour + each way.
Advice
Working for this organization really opened my eyes to the important and necessary work of non-profit organizations- especially in the field of education. They offer so many learning and growing opportunities that I will be able to take into any job in the future!

Teaching Residency Intern
May - August 2018 • New York City, NY
What I liked
My boss was a woman of color and that was especially important to me within the workplace. She also was focused on my personal growth while providing me the tools to advance my growth at work.
What I wish was different
Like every other teacher, I wish that I was able to provide more resources to the children that we worked with. There aren’t any personal reflections on the actual job.
Advice
Don’t be afraid to use your voice. You are the expert. You were chosen for the internship for a reason.

TA for Spanish Department
July - August 2018 • New York City, NY
What I liked
I liked that I was able to help kids in summer school with their Spanish. I was able to learn from them and how I could help them.
What I wish was different
I wish that I was able to get more hands on expeirence with teaching because I was only their to help students one on one.
Advice
One piece of advice I would share is to have patience because helping kids is always not easy especially because learning a new language can be difficult.
